Bill served in 3/1 India Company in Camp Pendleton from 1987 to 1989. 3/1 was the pilot to re-launch the Raider Battalions. India Company was tasked with "wet launching" and delivering the company to the beach via 16-foot Boston Whaler "raiders" from the well-deck amphibious ships normally utilized for Amtraks. He attended scout swimmer school in Coronado, California, and served in a weapons platoon as a heavy gunner on a Westpac deploy in 1989.
Upon his return, he applied and was accepted into the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. He completed Amphibious Reconnaissance School and then Navy Dive School in Coronado and was deployed very early in Operation Desert Shield and remained for Operation Desert Storm. He served on a Reconnaissance Team on the border of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for the duration of the conflict. He received a Sea Service Deployment, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon.
Bill received a Master's Degree in International Business Management from Thunderbird in Glendale, AZ, and currently resides in Flagler Beach, FL.
