Kayla Jerido was born in Southampton, NY in 1992. After attending Shippensburg University, Kayla joined the United States Air Force in July 2018. She went to basic military training in Lackland, Air Force Base Texas, followed by Tech School in Goodfellow, Air Force Base where she completed the Fire Protection Apprentice Course.
Kayla's first duty station was Ramstein Germany where she served as a Firefighter, Driver Operator. Kayla won Senior Airman Below The Zone (put on rank 6 months early) and Airman of the quarter in 2020 and Firefighter of the year in 2021. An Air and Space Commendation medal was given to Kayla after leaving Germany and going on to her second base in Aviano Italy. Kayla made Staff Sergeant on first try and was advanced to be an Airman Leadership School Instructor for the next 3 years. Kayla has also reenlisted for 4 more years of service on February 1, 2024.
Joining the military was the best decision of her life and she can't wait to see what else it has to offer. Amy & Kayla met as Big & Little in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program many years ago and continue a very close bond to this day. Amy couldn't be prouder of the young woman and leader Kayla has become!
