Only household garbage should be placed in the green bags. All recyclables should be transported separately and placed in the appropriate location at the recycling center. Recyclables such as corrugated cardboard, mixed paper, cans, glass bottles and plastics #1 and #2 only are accepted at no cost to residents.

Residents can purchase them at the Town Clerk’s Office, 116 Hampton Road, Southampton, and at 25 local stores. Large are 5 for $17.50, Small 5 for $9.75.
No, the Town of Southampton uses a pay-per-bag program for resident self-haulers only. Residents bring all household garbage in designated “green bags” and their recyclables to any one of the four town-operated recycling centers. The fees for garbage disposal are included in the price of the green garbage bags.

Loose leaves brought in by residential self haulers are free all year. Brush is accepted at a small fee, depending on vehicle type. However, there are two “amnesty” periods when there is no charge for residential self-haulers. For more information, call 631-283-5210.
