Lee was born on Dec. 29, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in Hampton Bays and was drafted into the Army on March 10, 1966. He began Basic Training in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Eight weeks later he graduated from Basic where he was given a ten-day leave. He was met at JFK by his parents and his wife.
Lee returned to the Army at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia where he began further training in Engineer Supply school. Lee had a brief leave after his training. He returned home and married Peg. The newly married couple lived in Virginia until Lee was shipped to Vietnam where he served a 14-month tour. After returning home Lee and Peg served 5 months in the Army. He considered returning to officers training school but he decided to return to his job with the NY Telephone Co. as a manager. Lee also wanted to give to all Vets after he returned! He was extremely devoted to his Brother’s! He became a member of the Vietnam Veterans organization, the Westhampton VFW, the Hampton Bays American Legion and served wherever and whenever he could!
