  • We believe it is important to feel supported when caregiving. While those being cared for need the best possible care and kindness, so do those who are caring for them. Caregivers, Adult Children of Aging Parents and also Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Groups meet regularly.

    All Support Groups are held at the Hampton Bays Senior Center 

    • Caregivers Support Group
      last Wednesday of each month from 12-2:30 p.m. Lunch is served at 12 noon, meeting begins at 12:30pm
    • Adult Children of Aging Parents Support Group
      meets the third Wednesday of each month from 6-8:30 p.m. Dinner is served at 6pm, meeting begins at 6:30pm (HBSC)
    • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group
      meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6-8:30pm. Dinner is served at 6pm, meeting begins at 6:30pm. Childcare is provided. (HBSC)

  • The Town’s transportation program is one of our top priorities and important to our seniors and their families. This service can be a lifeline to many seniors enabling them to remain in their own home and community. One ride at a time!

    This important program is designed to aid residents of the Town of Southampton. It can be used for transportation to and from basic essential services such as shopping, bank, post office, drug store, hair dresser, barber shop, non-emergency medical visits, governmental agencies and hospital / nursing home visitation of a sick spouse.

    This service is available to senior citizens and/or handicapped individuals within the township, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

    Please note:

    • Transportation will be provided according to a regular planned schedule.
    • Travelers will be taken to the closest shopping/drop off areas whenever possible.
    • The Senior Shuttle Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Riders must be residents of the Town of Southampton, at least 60 years of age or handicapped.

    Shopping Schedule

    • Tuesday: Riverhead
    • Wednesday: Hampton Bays

    ‘For those confined to a wheel chair, transportation to medical appointments via a bus equipped with a hydraulic lift is available. Medical appointments must be made well in advance (minimum 5 days notice required if possible), and if any type of assistance is needed a responsible adult is requested to accompany the person. Medical appointment times are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and are taken on a first come-first serve basis so we can serve each of those in need as quickly and conveniently as possible.

  • Are you a Senior… age 60+? Come join us for fun activities, lunches, health and wellness, entertainment and new friendships. We also have volunteer opportunities.
    Enjoy healthy, comforting meals and share them with new and old friends, in a warm and welcoming setting in one of our Town Community Centers.

    Each weekday morning and afternoon a variety of activities are offered for fun, education, creativity, and to help you feel vital and connected in a very pleasant and inviting social center. Lunch is served at noon daily and alternate meal choices are available offering the “best deal in town.” Suggested contribution is $3.50 per meal. Round-trip transportation is available if needed.

    Of course there are many wonderful “SPECIAL SENIOR PROGRAMS”: Recreation, Health and Exercise Classes, Social and Cultural Programs, Trips and our Annual Senior Citizen Picnic

  • Home-delivered meals can be provided on a temporary or long-term basis, five days per week, for home-bound seniors. Please call one of our three community centers to make arrangements that fit your needs.

  • Companionship and stimulation for a special population of the elderly is provided. Whether limited in their ability to function independently, physically impaired, socially isolated, or with Alzheimer’s or dementia, we are able to provide relief, referrals and support for caregivers, while a loved one is in a safe and nurturing environment.

    Weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday-Friday a continental breakfast and tasty, hot lunch at the Hampton Bays Community Center are part of the program. A full day of programs and transportation are provided for a very reasonable fee.

    The Adult Day Care Program is filled with invigorating programs that are both mentally and physically stimulating. These include: exercise, word and memory games, current events, sing-along’s, entertainment, reminiscing, recreational games, intergenerational programs and the arts from music, to art and dance.

  • Even a single phone call a day can provide reassurance to those home-bound and helps confirm all is well for seniors living alone or disabled. Subscribers receive a daily call at the same time each day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

  • For seniors who need at home living assistance, Southampton Town provides personalized and thoughtful services provided by the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services. These can include cleaning, shopping, laundry, errands and warm, friendly visits.

  • This program provides household assistance to homeowners and renters, 60 years of age and over, who need assistance with chores that do not require skilled-licensed workers. This is not an emergency service. For a list of the types of repairs offered and/or to schedule an appointment, please call the Hampton Bays Senior Center.
