Sat, Apr 4, 11:30am. Horses on Trails (HOT) Barcelona Point Ride. Barcelona Point is the shore of the Linda Gronlund Memorial Nature Preserve (formerly Barcelona Neck) in East Hampton. There are beautiful trails meandering through forests and along the beautiful Sag Harbor Bay. DEC permit is required, and parking is extremely limited therefore there is only room for a few horse trailers (not gooseneck). First come first serve so RSVPing is mandatory, that way we can build a wait list if needed. Helmets required. Please RSVP to Deb by telephone: 631-312-1644.
Sun, April 5, 10am-Noon. Barrel Hill Hike. Barrel Hill in North Sea offers a quietly rewarding hike with classic South Fork character. The trail rises to a summit with wide views of Peconic Bay and the surrounding land. Breezes off the water, birdsong, and big sky make it feel calm and expansive. It’s an easy, peaceful walk, somewhat hilly, but ideal for an inspiring nature break, or a moment of stillness that captures the beauty of the North Sea landscape. Moderately paced, 3-mile hike. Meet at the parking area under the powerlines 250 feet East of 171 Edge of Woods Road in Southampton. Leader: Hank Oppenheimer, 631-204-7223.
Sun, April 12, 9:30am-11:30am. Sears Bellows Hike. This is part of Hubbard County Park. Meet in the general parking lot at 63 Sears Bellows Rd., Hampton Bays. Views of Sears Pond and Sears Bellows. About 4 miles. Leader: Liz Karpin, 631-819-8183.
Sat, April 18, 11am. Horses on Trails (HOT) Sagg Main Beach. Come ride your horse with us along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline of the South Fork at Sagg Main Beach in Sagaponack. Enjoy riding on the sandy beach and meandering past local farms and through the beautiful backstreets of the area. Alternatively, you can head back to the starting point along the ocean if you prefer. Depending on the season, there are often sightings of dolphins, seals, and abundant bird life, including piping plovers and osprey. Please be ready to ride by 11:00 am and bring a dish to share after the ride. Helmets are required. Please RSVP to val3rie66@gmail.com.
Sat, April 18, 10am-11am. Whiskey Hill 40th Anniversary Hike. Meet on Mill Path off Lopers Path (heading east), Bridgehampton. Sat, April 25, 9:30-11:30am. Atlantic Gully 40th Anniversary Hike. See one of our latest achievements--the Gully trail leading to the perimeter of what became the Atlantic Golf Club in the 1990s, then onto a loop in the Noyac Woods. Total distance is 3.8 miles. Meet at 1164 Scuttlehole Road where a private drive leads to parking at a new trailhead and scenic entry to the Gully. Hike leader Tim Corwin: 631 204-7821.
