Sat, Oct 4, 8am-9am.  Narrow Lane Cleanup. Help STPS clean up litter from our adopted road. Meet on Narrow Lane and east corner of Norris Lane, Bridgehampton. Bring gloves. Free 2025 membership to new volunteers! Leader: Dai Dayton, 631-745-0689.

Sat, Oct 4, 9am-11 am.  Kurt Billing Loop in the Tuckahoe Woods Preserve.  Discover the natural beauty of Southampton on a hike along the Kurt Billing Loop, a scenic 2.25-mile moderate-paced hike winding through woodlands, meadows, and rolling hills. This hike offers insights into the area’s unique ecology, wildlife, and the legacy of conservationist Kurt Billing. Along the way, enjoy views, interpretive nature stops, and a refreshing connection to the outdoors. Perfect for curious hikers looking to explore one of Southampton’s hidden gems. Parking area and trailhead located on Sebonac Road approximately 0.2 miles East of the intersection of Magee St and Sebonac on the left hand side. Sun, Oct 5, 9:30am.  Morton Wildlife Refuge. Children welcome. Meet at the Refuge entrance on Noyac Road, Sag Harbor about 200 feet East of Orchard Avenue.  Hike beautiful Jessup’s Neck with views of Great Peconic Bay. The US Fish & Wildlife Service charges a $4.00 parking fee to support this Refuge. Bring birdfeed. Leader: Reva German, rev0304@gmail.com.

Sat, Oct 11, 10am-1pm.  Long Pond Greenbelt Celebration. Co-sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG), the Peconic Land Trust, & the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo).  Bring the family! Enjoy guided trail walks, games and crafts provided by local environmental and community organizations including: Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE), Dawgpatch Bandits, Group for the East End, Hampton Library, John Jermaine Library, Peconic Baykeeper, Peconic Estuary Program, Perfect Earth, Quality Parks, Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons, Southampton Trails Preservation Society/Horses on Trails. Sat, Oct. 18, 9:30-12 noon.  Elliston Park - TWO PART HIKE.  Begin with an easy one-mile loop through beautiful freshwater wetlands, across bridges and streams, to visit a historic graveyard and Lake Missapague (Big Fresh Pond). Then, return to your car or join us for PART TWO--a two-mile loop along the lake, through Wolf Swamp Preserve and past saltwater wetlands of Island Creek. This is the part of Elliston Park most people never see. Hike begins promptly at 9:30 am in the Elliston parking lot at 75 Millstone Brook Road in Southampton. Hike leader: Tim Corwin, 631-204-7821.

Sun, Oct 19, 11am.  Horses on Trails (HOT) - Connetquot State Park. Come ride your horse with us at Connetquot River State Park Preserve. The preserve maintains 3,473 acres of land and water for the protection and propagation of birds, fish and animals. Deer and waterfowl are numerous, rare nesting birds, including the osprey, are present and there are numerous rare plants and other interesting flora, such as trailing arbutus and pink lady's slipper in their natural habitats. The preserve has 50 miles of hiking, bridle, and nature trails. Horseback riding permits will need to be obtained for the day, unless you already have one for the year. Daily riding permits are 15 dollars which includes parking. You can fill out this form ahead of time and bring it with you, or get one the day of the ride. Please RSVP to val3rie66@gamil.com as we are limited to 10 participants for this ride. Be on your horse and ready to ride by 11 AM. Helmets required, bring a dish to share after the ride.   

Sun, Oct 19, 10am-12pm.  Sears Bellows County Park Hike.  Meet in the general parking area inside the park at 63 Bellows Pond Road, Hampton Bays.  Hike around both Sears Bellows and Sears ponds. About 4 miles. Leader: Liz Karpin, Lkarpin@outlook.com.

Sat, Oct 25, 10am-Noon. Hike Edge of Woods Road to Southampton Youth Services overlook via Barrel Hill. Meet at the kiosk opposite 178 Edge of Woods Road, Southampton, where the power lines cross, between David White’s Lane on the east and Long Springs Road on the west. Hike to Barrel Hill and the overlook above Southampton Youth Services. Good views and somewhat hilly. Moderate pace, about 3 miles. Hopefully tick season will be over, but please dress appropriately. Leaders: Eric and Hilary Woodward, 631-903-7895.

Sun, Oct 26, 11am.  Horses on Trails (HOT) - Sagg Main Beach Ride.  Come ride your horse with us along the Atlantic Ocean's shoreline of the south fork on Long Island at Sagg Main Beach in Sagaponack. Ride the sandy beach and meander along farms and through the back streets of the beautiful south fork. Or go back to the starting point along the ocean, if that's what you enjoy most! There have been sightings of dolphins, seals and abundant bird life, including the piping plovers and osprey, depending on the season. Leg up and ready to ride at 11:00 AM. Sun, Oct 26, 3:30pm-4:15pm. Long Pond Greenbelt - Larry Penny Memorial Hike.  Join Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt for an easy paced, one-mile hike on flat, grassy terrain with views of ponds. Wear proper walking shoes and attire, plus tick repellent. Meet at the grass parking area behind the SOFO museum at 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike. Leader: Dai Dayton, 631-745-0689.
